Gloucester City Old Bank
We are re-establishing the Gloucester City Old Bank here for fun.
The note below belongs to a friend and fan of The Powdered Earth who has allowed us to take a copy and share it with our fanbase. It was issued in the 19th century and signed by James Wood. He was the proprietor of the Gloucester City Old Bank which was once the third oldest private bank in England and operated from 1716 to 1838. Wood was known as "Jemmy" - the miser of Gloucester - and is apparently the inspiration for Charles Dickens' character "Ebeneezer Scrooge" in The Christmas Carol. George wrote a song "Coals" for his 2018 Spaces project inspired by Jemmy Wood. You can read the lyrics, find out more and listen to it by clicking here.
